This is an important and useful diagram.
It describes what I was doing to myself – far too often. The spiral I got myself into where I go round and round this figure of Eight. The top of each curve gives me the route out only to zoom down the other side and into the opposite loop.
There are two ways out – in the middle – the one going up gives me better choices. The one going down puts me into ‘coping’ mode.
I remind myself of this a great deal. I can make good choices or not so good ones. And only I can come out of the spiral.
